All right, we know it is ‘social media” and all pervasive but Facebook can be fun and entertaining.
And informative…
Last week we set up a new Our Hiking Blog Facebook page. We came to this decision quite easily, as up until now, Frank shared a lot of information on his personal Facebook account.
This was great BUT we are not sure if people interested in bushwalking or hiking, are also interested in what we had for lunch, what our children have been up to or reading about our football team!
It has been getting hard to keep the family and friend stuff separated from the outdoors stuff.
Hence it was an easy decision to create a separate Our Hiking …

For anyone who might be interested we made it out ok from our trip into Lake Oberon in the Western Arthurs, Tasmania.
It was a challenging trip and once we get back to a computer instead of an iPad we will write up a few articles.
For anyone who is interested , this link will shoot you across to You Tube where we uploaded a video of our ascent out of Lake Cygnus. We had spent two nights there as conditions were too dangerous to go into Lake Oberon.
Tasmania was hit by pretty serious weather while we were out. We knew it was coming and were well prepared, if not a bit “adventurous”. Once we get over a bit …

Like many of you, we have been trying to juggle work, family and trip planning into our busy lives.
Here are a few things that have been happening around the world of Our Hiking Blog.
Food to Go – Feedback
Jonathan let us know by email that Farm Pride Egg Powder is now available through Coles Supermarkets in Australia. It’s in the bread making / baking section for anyone who is interested in taking it on a trip. A 150g container, equivalent to a dozen eggs, sells at around $5.00. Previously it has been hard to get.
He also bought “Food to Go” recently and gave us some positive feedback (thanks!):
Great, although I have been hiking for 25 years

Why thanks?
Well, you are generous enough to read our articles and contribute to the success of Our Hiking Blog.
This success was recently recognised by Alexa representing Skoda Australia where we were offered a month’s “test drive” of their new Octavia Scout 4×4 103TDI.

This “no strings attached” offer is a happening thing and we took delivery on Friday of the shiny new vehicle.
Rather than clog up Our Hiking Blog with articles about our Scout Adventures, we have set up a mini site, as part of this site, where we can keep anyone who is interested up to date with Our Skoda Experience.
You just need to click on the Skoda Experience picture on the right hand …

It’s the start of a New Year and we are EXCITED.
Well, let’s just say, mildly pumped and looking forward to a great year around here.
Just some background to explain why we have written this article.
Circumstances have conspired that we are now both working full time. Until mid last year, Sue was about three days a week and Frank has scraped by on two days a week (for the last three months) As part of a “long term strategy” we think making a few dollars while our children have left (or are leaving) home will set us up for some travel and adventures in the next few years.
On to business. In this article there are three …
